On November 14, 2017, Michael Wilk served on a panel of experienced arbitrators in a presentation to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Houston Bar Association. The program was entitled Disclosures, Discovery and Motions, Oh My, and included discussion of disclosures of prior arbitrations for repeat parties and former counsel, social media and counsel disclosures, limitations on discovery to save time and costs in arbitration, whether dispositive motions are worth filing and how to deal with counsel who want to file a dispositive motion and the recovery of attorneys’ fees in arbitration. Michael is a mediator and arbitrator, and regularly speaks and publishes on topics in alternative dispute resolution, having formerly served as the chairman of the ADR Section for the State Bar of Texas, on the inaugural board of directors of the Association of Attorney Mediators and later as its National Director and National President, as the Director of the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center, and as the Chairman of Peer Mediations and Schools Task Force for the Houston Bar Association and the Houston Bar Association ADR Section.
